Praise in the Park - Lucedale, Mississippi

Where, who, or what happens to all the money from ticket sales and booth fees?

Praise in the Park Incorporated is an all volunteer organization of Christian believers from Lucedale, Mississippi.  The organization is made up of multi-denominational believers donating their time and experience in an effort to make a difference in our community and region.

No one in the organization or associated with the organization receives a salary or compensation of any type.  Any money from the annual event in excess of expenses is carried over to the following year.  This carry-over money will be used to offset ticket prices or cover unforeseen expenses.

Most years expenses have exceeded revenue.  If not for the generous donations of our sponsors and unnamed families, Praise in the Park would not be able to continue.  It is our intent to offer a ticket price that will allow us to meet our expenses only.  These donations allow us to offer a ticket price that is normally half the price of other similar regional Christian concerts.

What is the minimum age that needs a ticket?

Children 4 years old or younger do not need a ticket.  They will be given an armband at the gate for counting attendance but they do not need to purchase a ticket.

Can I bring my small dog to the concert?

No.  Only service dogs are allowed.

When is the last day to purchase group tickets?

You can purchase advance group tickets at the discount price up to the day before the event at the website.  All tickets the day of the event will be full price without a group discount and can be purchased near the park entrance.

What if I don't receive my tickets in the mail before I leave for the concert?

Let us know if you do not receive your tickets in the mail.  We'll make arrangements for you at will call.  Bring your receipt for proof of purchase.

Can I pay for tickets with a check?

Yes you can for advance tickets only. You can mail a check and the number of tickets needed to

Why do I have to pay a shipping fee if I'm picking up my tickets at will call?

The shipping fee covers the cost of using the paypal credit card service, processing the ticket order, printing tickets, purchasing armbands, and shipping.

What is the seating like at the park?

The park is a natural grassy outdoor amphitheather.  You are strongly encouraged to bring lawn chairs.  Seating location is on a first-come basis.  Some people bring blankets and just relax for the day on the beautiful grassy hill.  Plan on turning the kids loose with a football or point them toward the playground.

Can I access the park with a scooter or wheelchair?

Yes, there is a concrete pathway from the vendor area all the way down into the park.

Where is the park located?

On your GPS, it is at 507 Oak Street, Lucedale, MS 39452.  Here is the location on google maps

Can I bring food or an ice chest into the park?

No.  There will be ministry food booths set up near the main gates of the park serving all the food and drinks you can imagine.  Check out the menu on the vendor page.

How can I see music on the downtown stage if the gates do not open until 3PM?

The downtown stage is a stage located near Main Street and the food vendors.  This is outside of the main venue area.  This is a free concert before the main gates open.

What about hotels available in the area?

One of our sponsors is Holiday Inn Express of Lucedale. You can reach them at this web address or by calling 601-947-2099. Don't delay these rooms usually fill very fast.

Other hotels to check are Rocky Creek Inn, Western Motel, and Dorsett Motel.

Why does the gate wait until 3PM to open?

The artist require a sound check in as much privacy as possible.  They want to sound great when performing for you so they ask that we not allow the crowd to enter until they are finished with their sound checks.

Is there a campsite or RV park near the City Park?

Your best bet for camping is
Escatawpa Hollow Campground near the Mississippi - Alabama state line.  If you're parking an RV for the weekend, email us and we'll point you in the right direction.

Why do you have a band contest every year?  Why can't you just ask groups to play instead?

As you can imagine, we are flooded with requests to play every year.  The requests are not just from local groups but national groups too.  So how do we determine who is the most deserving?  We want to offer the opportunity to local groups to perform on the big stage before the headliners.  The contest allows us to do just that and promote the event at the same time.  No level of advertising budget can reach the number of people that the band contestants do.  And for the groups that work hard to promote the event, they are rewarded with a tremendous opportunity to perform in front of thousands.  You never know how the Lord will use these bands to reach someone we never could even if we blanketed the radio with advertisments.  Also, it has been our experience that the winning groups not only work hard to win the contest but also obviously work hard in the preparation for their set.  They've all done a great job!  It's also given us an opportunity to meet and worship with some great people.  We're excited each year to see the interest the contest draws and look forward to seeing how God will use us all.

What kind of food and drink will be available for purchase?

We normally have 20 food vendors from various ministry related groups working to raise funds for their respective organizations. They offer a wide variety of delicious food and snacks. Chick-Fil-A meals, funnel cakes, bloomin' onions, burgers, hotdogs, bbq, chicken on a stick, and philly cheese steak sandwiches are just a sampling of what you will usually find in our Food Vendor area. You can also purchase bottled water, coffee, soft drinks, and McAllister's tea as well as snack items like candy bars and chips. Check out the full list of our vendors and their menus on the vendor page of our website.

How much money should the students in my youth ministry bring for food and merchandise?

The students will probably be eating at least twice if you plan to make a day of it and enjoy the free music on the downtown stage which begins at 11:00.  $20 would probably cover food and drink for two meals. We also have 23 merchandise and information vendors this year that will be offering a wide variety of items including glow sticks, candles, soaps, jewelry, t-shirts, temporary tattoos, and much more. Praise in the Park t-shirts will be available for $15. The bands will also be offering CDs, t-shirts, and posters for sale. Check out the full list of food and merchandise vendors on the 2012 Vendor page of our website.
