What's Happening for PTP 2008:

October 13, 2008

We're only a few days away now and we can't wait to see what God has in store for Praise in the Park 2008.  Some groups have told us they plan to come to Lucedale early to spend the day hanging out and tailgating.  We invite you to do the same.  The Lucedale downtown area is a beautiful old downtown with shopping and restaurants.

To plan ahead for parking, it is recommended you park on the south side of Main Street.  There are numerous open lots all along the Main Street area within easy walking distance.

When you arrive at Praise in the Park, you will need to exchange your tickets for armbands.  There will also be a will call table next to the library and near the main park entrance under the water tower.  If you get lost walking in, just head toward the water tower.

October 1, 2008

Congratulations to Godspeed3 and Centertree.  They won the contest to find the "hardest working" bands in the area.  Look for them starting at 4PM to open Praise in the Park 2008.  What a blessing it has been to work with these groups and the ones below who did not win.  Thanks be to God for those faithful to his word and thanks to all the groups for working to further His Kingdom.

September 15, 2008

Praise the Lord!!!  We're about one month away from the event and the buzz is growing around the event.   The planning committee is working hard to make sure all the "t's" are crossed and "i's" dotted.  Please be praying for the event and how God will use it to touch our friends, neighbors, family, and even ourselves.

There has been a change in the line-up - unfortunately Colton and Zach Swon will not be able to join Brandon Green on stage for his set.

We're about 15 days from the end of the contest to determine the hardest working bands in the area.  If you haven't bought your tickets you can buy them through us or buy them from one of the bands below and cast your vote for the hardest working band.

May 26, 2008

As the planning committee prepares for Casting Crowns this year, we've tried to come up with a way to get everyone involved with this year's event.  As you can imagine the response to Casting Crowns' headlining this year's event has been enormous.  And with a few open spots on the line-up the requests to perform has also been huge.  We want to be fair and offer everyone an equal opportunity to play but it's difficult when you get as many requests as we do.

So to give everyone a fair shot at performing at Praise in the Park this year, we've decided to have another contest.  This year's contest will reward the two hardest working Christian groups with a opportunity of a lifetime.  The two groups that pre-sell the most tickets by October 1st will each get a 20 minute set to open Praise in the Park 2008.  The rules of the contest are as follows:

In order to enter the contest, you must be approved by Praise in the Park Inc. by submitting a sample of your music to us by email or link to your myspace music site or equivalent.
Once approved your group's name will appear on the approved list at this website.  If your name does not appear on the contest page then you are not officially entered into the contest.
As an approved contest entry you can pre-sell Praise in the Park 2008 tickets for $10 each.
At the end of each month you must submit your pre-sell totals for monthly ticket distribution.  The minimum monthly ticket submission is 15.
On October 2nd we will announce the two contest winners and contact you to begin planning for your performance as an opening act for Casting Crowns.

Proverbs 14:23 says "your hard work will be rewarded" and that's exactly what we want to do.  Pre-selling Casting Crowns tickets for only $10 will not be difficult.  This will be an easy contest to win for those willing to put a little effort into it.  There's no restrictions on how you pre-sell tickets - contact youth groups, put up posters in your church, sell tickets from your myspace, or sell tickets at one of your performances.

Casting Crowns typically draws over 8000 people at a $25 ticket price in our area.  Only the Lord knows how many they'll draw at $10 a ticket and as winner you'll have the opportunity to perform in front of these same people AND sell your CDs and merchandise.  This may be the big break your group needs.

May 4, 2008

What a great day we had in the Park yesterday lifting up praises.  We got off to a slow start due to the rain but it quickly cleared up.  Thanks to all who joined us to hear many great local groups perform.  Thanks to Brandon, Colton, and Zach for a sharing their talents with us as headliners.

May 2, 2008

We're excited to add another event to our calendar this year.  On May 3rd in the Lucedale City Park local Christian music artists will be performing starting at 11AM.  There will also be local church groups selling food.

The schedule of artists is still being finalized.  We can announce that Lucedale's own American Idol Top 50 Brandon Green will headline the event and hopefully some of his AI friends will also be there.

If your church group is interested in raising money for your ministry email us at info@praiseinthepark.org for more information or call at 601-508-0587.

April 5, 2008

We're very excited to announce that Casting Crowns will headline this year's event.  And as part of the Casting Crown's set Mark Hall will deliver a message.  Back by popular demand, 33 Miles will be opening for Casting Crowns.    If that wasn't enough, Lucedale's very own Brandon Green will also be part of the lineup.  You probably saw him this year as a Top 50 finalist for American Idol.

Please be praying that the Lord will pour out his blessings on the Park and people will come to know Christ.

Frequently Asked Question About Praise in the Park

Here are some questions I've been getting.  If you have others let me know.

Q.  Can we bring our lawn chair and ice chest?

A.  Please bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and Frisbees.  The Park is a natural amphitheater with a grassy hillside.  Sorry but no ice chests are allowed.  We will have church groups selling food and drinks to raise money for their ministry.

Q.  How can I get tickets?

A.  You can buy tickets by calling 601-508-4950 or emailing us here.  For groups of 15 or more tickets are $10 each.  Send a check (Praise in the Park Inc, Post Office Box 1689, Lucedale MS 39452) and I'll mail the tickets back to you.  Tickets are also available at the Christian bookstore Changing Hearts on Main Street in Lucedale for $13 each.  Otherwise, you can get them at the gate the day of the show for only $15.

Q.  How can you only charge $10 with the line-up you have?  How can I make a donation to Praise in the Park?

A.  It is our desire for everyone to be able to attend the event and we don't want money to be an obstacle.  We receive donations from business and individuals to help offset ticket prices.  Churches also purchase full price tickets for their congregation and for ministry to provide a consistent foundation to cover event expenses.   If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, you can call 601-508-4950 or email for more information.

Q.  Who needs a ticket?  Do I need to buy a ticket for my young child?

A.  Children who are 4 or under do not need to purchase a ticket.

Q.  How can my church sell food to raise money at the event?

A.  Only church groups are allowed to sell food at this year's event.  For more information select "Church Fundraiser" on the left side of the page.  Church booths are only $100 for the day.

Q. This is our first time at Praise in the Park, what should we bring with us to better enjoy the event?

A.  Great question!  The event is in the city park with lots of trees and grass.  A football or Frisbee would be a great idea.  If you would like bring a portable tent for your group to have Bible study under or just to be home base while you enjoy hours of church food and praise and worship music.

Q.  How can I volunteer my services to Praise in the Park?

A.  You can contact us here at the website by email or call us at 601-508-4950.  All volunteers serve at least two hours during the day and receive a free t-shirt and admission to the event.

If you're looking for a hotel in the area then check out the Holiday Inn Express on Hwy 98.   The Lucedale City Park is less than 2 miles from the Holiday Inn Express.
